EXTRACT TAKING FROM THE GUARDIAN UNLIMITED FEATURE: Stairs pose a problem for our new sofa !
We need a comfortable sofa, with washable covers, to give
a room a light, airy, beach-house feel. There is plenty of space for a large
sofa, but it will have to go down some narrow (60cm wide) stairs. We don't
like the look of flat-pack sofas - will we have to have something
custom-made?
"We've spoken to several manufacturers and, given the
narrowness of your stairwell, your only option is to go for a self-assembly
sofa. Bespoke sofa company Harris Design
www.harris-design.co.uk (01252 617120, ) will make you a sofa, deliver it in modules, then
assemble it on site. It has lots of styles to choose from and will adjust
the details to suit your requirements.
